Royal Cabanas Beach Development
The Royal Cabanas Beach II development is located on the Algarve in the small village of Cabanas, a 25 minute drive from Faro airport which is serviced by many of the budget airlines, in addition to many scheduled flights in the UK. Cabanas plays host to many traditional cafes and restaurants located on what will soon be a new promenade due for building and completion by 2008.
Ria Formosa is a five minute walk from The Royal Cabanas Beach II and separates Cabanas from Cabanas island where the beach front can be found. The name Cabanas translates as cabins, the village took this namesake from the many fisherman's cabins that used to exist before 1961 when a great storm swept all the cabins from the island. To reach the Cabanas island beach front it is necessary to take an aqua-taxi to cross the Ria (river), in the summer season the price is half a euro per person for the 3 minute trip.
